Tyler Lennox Bush
Executive Director / Instructor
Ty is an interdisciplinary designer, screenwriter, performer, and educator. His work lies at the intersection of social practice, technology, anthropology, and entertainment. His professional career spans twenty years as a production designer, graphic designer, communications strategist, camera man, producer, director, actor, carpenter, and service worker. He’s been an instructor at Purdue University, DePaul University, Crown Point Community Schools, IvyTech Community College, and Lighthouse Academies. He holds a BA from Wabash College, an MA in Communications from Purdue, and is currently completing his MFA in Cinema from DePaul University. In 2015 He was awarded the Eugene Debs Award from the United Steelworkers for his work with Rustedblue, and delivered the TED talk about the importance of media literacy in post-industrial communities. As an activist for democratic participation through media he teaches screenwriting, pop culture criticism, public speaking, performance, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Premiere, WordPress, & Leadership at Rustedblue as a means to empower students to become the producers of there own narratives while fostering bonds with fellow creative collaborators and the local community. He is the Co-Author of the children’s book and Literacy Series “Gary is a Fish”, and is a guest blogger for Moyers & Company. He is currently completing his second screenplay inspired by his students & The City of Gary.
Community Lead / Instructor
Calvin is an experienced Independent Filmmaker with a demonstrated history of working in the media production industry. He is currently the media production Engineer for the City of Gary, and the gameday Producer for the Southshore Railcats Baseball Club. He teaches Film Direction, Film Production, Project Management, Adobe Photoshop, and Marketing at Rustedblue and holds a BFA in Film from Columbia College Chicago.
